GOD’S WRISTWATCH
Time is crucial. We are all controlled by it. We have clocks everywhere: in the bedroom, in the living room, in the kitchen, and even in the bathroom. Clocks keep us on our toes. Societal norms are included in their quest to dictate what we are to do with time. You often hear,’ You must be this, or at this age, you are not supposed to be that.’ Time is the pivot on which life seems to be rotating. This is not bad, but we must be careful not to lose touch with reality by allowing time to control us.
So often, as Christians, we have this mindset in our relationship with the LORD. Usually, we treat our prayers as emails sent to Jesus and wonder why we have yet to receive a reply. We waited a few hours and sent another email, in the form of prayer, as a quick reminder: “Just checking if you received my request.” It is about an hour. “LORD Jesus is everything going well on the Throne? Please send me a reply. It has been six hours since I sent the request.” We get frustrated because hours turn into days, months, or years. We start complaining, murmuring. Anger sets in, and we become dejected.
At this time, we are agitated, anxious, and irritated because we need God’s answer. But God does not use our wristwatch. He lives in eternity. The LORD has His timing for everything. When it is not time for Him to act, He will not. So, what do you do when you become anxious and irritated because the answer is delayed? Remember, God is sovereign over all things, including time. His control brings reassurance and confidence in His plan. Our reassurance is in His love. The Bible says,
“He who did not spare [even] His own Son, but gave Him up for us all, how will He not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things?” Romans 8: 32. (AMP)
The most extraordinary proof that God loves us is the gift of Jesus. If God can give us Jesus, He will provide us with any other need along with Jesus. The Holy Spirit is always quick to remind me of this verse. If I remember the verse, this calmness always comes to my mind.
The resultant effect is trusting the LORD until the answer comes. God’s greatest joy is when we can trust Him, which automatically turns to worshipping Him. Therefore, to avoid stress while waiting for our answers from God, let us trust the LORD and ask for our needs according to His will.
Let us stop using our wristwatch to determine God’s timing. Our God is faithful. Wait for Him.
