Cure to racism - Part 1

CURE TO RACISM – PART 1

Racism is cancer that has eaten deep into the fabric of our society.  It has caused hostility, injustice, and hatred.  The recent murder of George Floyd had awoken us to realize that racism is a human malady that must be addressed, not just in words but from a spiritual perspective as well.  For this reason.  I will be approaching this from a biblical point of view.

Is racism a spiritual sickness?

The answer is yes.    What is spiritual sickness?  Spiritual sickness is the inability to see things from God’s point of view.  When one is suffering from spiritual myopia then things are not seen clearly as God sees them.  The Bible says, “And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place - Acts 17:26(ESV).  It means every human being comes from one source.  God is the creator of everyone.  Starting with Adam then comes every human here now and to come.  We inhale the same oxygen and exhale the same carbon-dioxide.  We all have the same red blood flowing in our bodies.   We are all equal because we are all created in the image of God.  No nation or man is above another.  God determines the rising and falling of nations.  There were nations like Babylonia, Assyria, Hittite Empire, Greece, Ancient Egypt, and Athens that used to be powerful but are now either forgotten or not so powerful.  It means God also determines the existence of any nation. Therefore “it is not by power or by might but by the Spirit of the LORD” that any nation or individual is existing.

So if we all come from the same Creator why do we have a different shade of skin? How uncreative will it be if an eight billion world population has the same skin color?  God is the God of varieties.  Dwell on this: How boring will it be if we have just one color for the flowers or the fish

Self Quarantine

SELF QUARANTINE

Quarantining, I discover, happens when God is about to do a new thing.  It could be voluntary or forced.  There were so many saints in the Bible who experienced social distancing.  Abraham started his quarantine experience when he was called from Ur of the Chaldeans.  The Bible says,

Now the Lord had said to Abram:

“Get out of your country,
From your family
And from your father’s house,
To a land that I will show you. Genesis 12: 1.

In Abram’s quarantining, he voluntarily agreed with God.   There are three things that he had to face that will determine if the quarantining will have a negative or positive effect.

He was separated from land, people and his home to an unknown land.  In a nutshell, he was experiencing a social distancing from everything he had ever known.

  1. Every method he had used in the past to get things done had to be discarded
  2. The future is bleak
  3.  He cannot use his wisdom, he has to follow the direction of God.

Abram can either fear or trust God absolutely on this journey. It is a journey where he did not have any authority.  Abram chose to trust God.  He could also choose to complain and murmur against God as he faced challenges during his quarantine, but he chose to trust God.

The Bible says,

“By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. 9By faith he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise; 10for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God”. Hebrews 11: 8-11.

During this global quarantining, what the LORD is calling us to do is to trust Him and allow Him to be in charge for a change.  Abraham had faith in God and became the father of nations.  He started the journey as Abram and got his name

GOD IS OUR REFUGE

GOD IS OUR REFUGE

Trouble comes in different forms and shapes.    However, this unprecedented coronavirus pandemic must be overwhelming for a lot of us.  People are taking precautions with staying clean.  A lot of people are staying at home to avoid contact with people.  There is also social distancing for those who do venture out, so as to cut down on the rapid transfer. I applaud the efforts of everyone.

Despite all these, a lot of people are afraid.  The television, radio, and social media are discussing nothing but the coronavirus.  We don’t need to be afraid.  The Bible says, “

"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the ...” Psalm 46: 1-4

We have the assurance from the Word of God that however devastating the situation of this pandemic may be, there is a river that brings the peace of God. This river brings stability to the soul and so we are not moved. The antidote to all these threats and fear is to allow the river of God to flow peace into our souls.

We will not be moved because the Lord of lords is right inside of us.  With the fear all over the world, we will spread the fragrance of God’s assurance and peace to everyone we come in contact with. V. 5.  We will achieve this because the LORD of hosts is with us.  V. 7.

The frenzy will be quickly dealt with if we can be still and receive the revelational knowledge that God is with us.  God wants us to be still to see clearly during this global chaos.  For any problem in life, there is a solution.  Let us all be still and God will again speak to our spirits.  PRAISE THE LORD!

ATTITUDE DURING THE CORONAVIRUS

Trouble comes in different forms and shapes.    However, this unprecedented situation of the pandemic of coronavirus disease could be overwhelming.  People are taking precautions.  A lot of people are staying at home to avoid contact with people.  There is also social distancing just to flatten the graph. LIVE IN UNION WITH CHRIST

LIVE IN UNION WITH CHRIST

Elizabeth Bankole

“Since you have accepted Christ Jesus as Lord, live in union with him.” (Good News Translation) Colossians 2:6
The Christians in Colossae were staggering in their faith in Christ. False teaching infiltrated Colossian Church. People were told the importance of empty rituals, the philosophy of the Greeks, or the traditions of the Jews. Paul wrote to these Christians in Colossae to refute all the wrong beliefs in a positive way. Also, today there are so many teachings that make believers derail from the truth. This is the truth: as Christians, we have everything we need in Christ.

You receive Jesus through faith, continue in faith. “Without faith, it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him." Hebrews 11:6 There are different types of faith: head knowledge, sensual faith, and Revelational faith. Revelational faith is the faith that is anchored on the word of God that nothing can uproot. We get revelational faith only through the Word of God.

Continue in your faith in the Word of God that brought you to the knowledge of Jesus Christ. You did not do any rituals to be accepted by Jesus, you put your faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus and you were saved. Continue to live your life that way. The day you receive Jesus into your life it is because you believe your sins have been forgiven, why are you doubting again that there are some sins that are not forgiven. You also believe you are reconciled to God because of your faith in Christ. Why do you now think you have to do some rituals because of generational curses, ancestral curses to be fully accepted by Christ? Does that mean Christ’s resurrection does not guarantee your new life? Is 2 Corinthians 5:17 not true? It says, “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” This is a fact not

How are you feeling after Christmas

What is it like after Christmas celebration?  Are you still excited or you are back on the daily grind called life as is?  Sometimes we experience this feeling of blasé post any celebration. It may be due to buyer’s remorse, a loved one, not present, or a failed attempt at the perfect holiday party. But it should not be so after Christmas because Christmas should be every day.   Christ should be celebrated every day because of the great deliverance Jesus had done for us.  I am so excited to share with you this great love of Jesus Christ.  The Bible says in Luke 1: 71 & 74, “that we should be saved from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us;” “that we, being delivered from the hand of our enemies, might serve him without fear,”

Jesus came to save us from our enemies and all who hate us.  Jesus came to give us salvation. This is spiritual and eternal salvation.  Jesus gave us a total deliverance that continues to eternity.   We are saved from these enemies: sin, death, condemnation, everything and anything that wages an endless war against our spirits.  The celebration of our deliverance ought to continue to eternity.

Our hearts should continuously be filled with joy because the LORD Jesus visited us to bring the mercy of God to us Luke 1:72.  Mercy is the foundation of our redemption and salvation.    Mercy is deliverance from judgment.  God promised His mercy to us which was performed by Jesus Christ.  Our fallen state was so tragic that God had to rescue us.

Luke 1:74 said one of the important reasons for Christmas, “that we, being delivered from the hand of our enemies, might serve him without fear.”  This received God-sized mercy is to be reciprocated by serving Him in response to what He has done for us.  And when we serve, it is not out of guilt, fear, or shame, rather in joy.  God does not want man operating in fear.  In fact, God extended mercy to us to give us the right to no longer live
