Self Quarantine

Quarantining, I discover, happens when God is about to do a new thing.  It could be voluntary or forced.  There were so many saints in the Bible who experienced social distancing.  Abraham started his quarantine experience when he was called from Ur of the Chaldeans.  The Bible says,

Now the Lord had said to Abram:

“Get out of your country,From your familyAnd from your father’s house,To a land that I will show you. Genesis 12: 1.

In Abram’s quarantining, he voluntarily agreed with God.   There are three things that he had to face that will determine if the quarantining will have a negative or positive effect.

He was separated from land, people and his home to an unknown land.  In a nutshell, he was experiencing a social distancing from everything he had ever known.

  1. Every method he had used in the past to get things done had to be discarded
  2. The future is bleak
  3.  He cannot use his wisdom, he has to follow the direction of God.

Abram can either fear or trust God absolutely on this journey. It is a journey where he did not have any authority.  Abram chose to trust God.  He could also choose to complain and murmur against God as he faced challenges during his quarantine, but he chose to trust God.

The Bible says,

“By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. 9By faith he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise; 10for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God”. Hebrews 11: 8-11.

During this global quarantining, what the LORD is calling us to do is to trust Him and allow Him to be in charge for a change.  Abraham had faith in God and became the father of nations.  He started the journey as Abram and got his name changed to Abraham.  God touched every area of his life.  The blessings of Abraham cannot be quantified as a result of his faith in God.

As Christians, we have to emulate Abraham.  This is a forced social distancing, but along the line, we can also surrender to the LORD and asked Him to be in charge.  LET US CALM DOWN AND LISTEN TO THE LORD.  THERE ARE GREAT IDEAS THAT THE LORD WILL REVEAL TO US.  Abraham was sent to a desert.  In the present situation that looks like a desert, God will reveal Himself.  Let us read the Bible, study the Bible, memorize the Bible, and meditate on the Bible.  The promises of God will be fulfilled.  This will work for our good.  PRAISE THE LORD.
